Hunters from Slovenian study area met in a workshop
In the study area of Jelovica and Pokljuka in NW Slovenia, in cooperation with hunters, we are studying the ecological and biological characteristics of wolves and roe deer and their relationships with human activities. We have been collecting data together with hunters for almost two years now, so we presented the first preliminary results and findings at a workshop attended by hunters from the participating hunting clubs as well as some other stakeholders.
In the first part of the workshop, we presented the results of the joint work of the past two seasons and the movement patterns of the telemetrically monitored animals. In the second part, in a joint discussion, we addressed the issues and challenges of wolf and game management and conflict mitigation. In the third part, ideas for future activities were discussed in an informal setting.
