Announcement: Second Summer School in Austria in September

24 August 2023
Veterinary University Vienna

The return of the wolf to Austria often leads to emotional discussions, unanswered questions, concerns and brings some challenges. We often know the wolf from fairy tales, films or zoos. But who has seen a wolf in the wild? How does it behave? How should I behave? In the summer school organised by the Austrian Society for Nature Conservation (Naturschutzbund) in the framework of the EU-funded project LIFE WolfAlps EU, we will focus on the wolf as a species and ways for coexistence.

The participating teachers, educators and nature guides will receive in-depth information on the biology and way of life of the wolf, exciting results from field research, learn how to recognise presence signs of wolves and an overview of livestock protection measures.

We will include different interactive methods (i.e. games and exercises) so that the participants can gain some new ideas on how to present the topic in their classroom lessons or on their tours.

There are still places available for people working in the field of environmental education (e.g. biology teachers, rangers, hiking guides, etc.)!
When? 22 – 24 September 2023
Where? Asternschmiede, Rauriser Tal, Salzburg
Costs? Self-organised travel, all other costs are covered by the project.
