Meet the wolf, educational workshops for schools

Due to the high demand from schools, the Forest Service of Slovenia team has so far organised 12 workshops for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. During these workshops, children explored biological materials (skulls, fur and paw prints) of wolves and other carnivore species, and learned about the anatomical characteristics, biology, ecology and behaviour of these species. In addition, they were informed about different ways of monitoring large carnivores (telemetry, camera traps and non-invasive genetic sample collection). With the primary school children, a walk in the woods was organised to discover the habitats of large carnivores and to dispel misconceptions about these species. With the kindergarten group, a photo trap was set up at the workshop site to discover which animals use their classroom in their absence.
