Book Launch ”Living with wolves”

At the end of last week, on Thursday 4.4.2024, we organized a book launch event for the book ‘‘Living with Wolves” in DINA Pivka Centre.

As part of the LIFE WOLFALPS EU project, an art workshop was held in 2022 together with the Artist for Nature Foundation, during which artists from abroad spent a week with local residents in Stari trg pri Ložu and experienced their perspective on living with wolves. The result is a stunning collection of artworks that can communicate the messages and positive aspects of living with wolves through art in a different way than the written word. As an additional activity, a book “Living with Wolves” was published in cooperation with the Publishing House ”Hiša knjig”, which, in addition to the artworks, also includes texts written by the participating artists and local residents.

We are delighted that most of the participants took part in the event and we would like to thank them for their collaboration. Dr. Peter Skoberne‘s speech invited us to reflect on coexistence and our everyday choices that can contribute to greater sustainability, and the MATETO music group created an unforgettable musical experience for all present. Several artists and Ysbrand Brouwers, President of the Artist for Nature Foundation, joined the event online.

The event was preceded by an art workshop led by academic painter Karmen Bajec, where participants created their own product – a wolf sack. After the event, we celebrated the publication of the book with a refreshment and a relaxed atmosphere. It was also possible to visit the DINA Pivka centre about large carnivores.
