A total of 508 non-invasive genetic samples were collected by field sampling. We estimate that there are 16 wolf packs in Slovenia, 4 of which are shared with Croatia. Four packs were assessed as vital, three have “emerging” status, two “disintegration” status and six “unknown status”. In the entire superpopulation, which also includes all detected wolves in the cross-border packs, we estimate around 131 (121 – 150) wolves or – after correction for cross-border animals, 113 (104 – 129) wolves in Slovenia.
